The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) has plans in the pipeline to send a formidable team to the Youth World Boxing Championships to be held in Kielce, Poland.
This year’s event will be staged from April 10 to 24. According to president of the association, Steve Ninvalle, Technical Director of the GBA, Terrence Poole, along with International Boxing Association (AIBA) 3-star coach, Sebert Blake, will be tasked with shortlisting the team.
The age eligibility is for boxers born between January 01, 2002 and December 31, 2003. Ninvalle however stated that the only certainty he can name at the moment is Abiola Jackman.
Jackman was a gold medalist at the last Caribbean Boxing Championships. The Championships will be held under the motto “Protect yourself and others at all times”, denoting safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initially scheduled for November 2 to 9 last year, the Championships for men and women was rescheduled to April due to the pandemic.
The tournament is set to be held at the Hala Legionow Sports Complex in Kielce, which can seat 3,000 fans.
