A guard was found dead under a shed at what is popularly known as the “Drum Yard” on David Street, Kitty.
The dead man has been identified as Troy Wiggins, 46, of Lot 490 Kiskadee Drive, South Ruimveldt.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement confirmed that Wiggins was found lying motionless at his work site.
The man, who suffered from epilepsy, was said to be a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for some 20 years.
According to the police, an examination of Wiggins’ body did not uncover any marks of violence. As a result, no foul play is suspected at this time.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place today.
Meanwhile, Marcia Fields-Wiggins, the wife of the deceased, told Stabroek News during an interview that she last saw her husband on Monday when he left for work.
The grieving woman stated that she was informed of his death by a relative of his boss sometime after 8 am yesterday.
However, the woman said she believes that Troy died sometime during the night since when she arrived at his place of work yesterday morning, he was already cold and stiff while he appeared to have injuries to his face from a fall.
The woman explained that her husband suffered from epilepsy and would often experience sudden seizures, causing him to become unaware of what is happening to him.
She shared that his body would usually get tense and he would wrap himself around things nearby.
The woman said even though he was on medication he would experience severe episodes and in the past they led to him being injured.
Troy was the sole breadwinner of the home after Marcia lost her job.
The father of one was described as a well-known, caring and humble individual. (Readawne Henery)
