In the inaugural Ryder Style Oasis Café/Akamai Trading golf tournament, it was Team Akamai that emerged victorious at the Lusignan Golf Course (LGC) on Saturday.

The match-play format tournament saw 34 golfers taking to the green,  divided into two teams. Brian Hackett of Akamai Trading and Oasis Café’s William Walker were the respective captains.

It was a comfortable win for the electrical supplies giants as they stormed to 27 points over team Oasis Café who chalked up 20 points.

Topping the charts was former Guyana Open women’s champion, Shanella London, who returned a gross of 78 and net 67. She was trailed by Ravindra Harry who grossed 80 with a net 69. Patrick Prashad rounded off the top three with a gross 79 and a net 70.

LCG President, Patanjalee ‘Pur’ Persaud, expressed gratitude to the two businesses for their sponsorship and encouraged everyone to support the establishments.

Oasis Café, which is located on Carmichael Street, Georgetown, has been in existence since 2005 and is recognized as one of the pioneers in the coffee shop industry. The café offers breakfast and lunch, along with afternoon teas, cakes and pastries. Outdoor dining is also currently available. It opens at 07:30 hrs on weekdays, 08:00 hrs on Saturday and 09:00 hrs on Sunday, and closes about 18:00 hrs.
