The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) on its Facebook page last evening announced that customers in Central Georgetown were to have their water supply restored at 2am today, due to a delay in the completion of works on Mandela Avenue.
The delay came after the team encountered unforeseen technical difficulties.
GWI had recently announced that customers in Central Georgetown would experience a disruption of water service yesterday, from 1.00 pm and expected to last for approximately 9 hours.
The interruption was to facilitate the relocation of mains for road works.
During an earlier update on the GWI page, Regional Manager for Georgetown, Curtis Niles, stated that 55% of the work was completed as steady progress was being made.
He asked that customers be patient and that they use water “very smartly”.
