Challengers for the leadership of Cricket West Indies, Anand Sanasie and Calvin Hope, have promised a transparent fitness standard should they be elected to lead West Indies Cricket.
The duo reiterated the point listed in their manifesto that there will be a review and institute a more equitable and transparent fitness standard for players while appearing on radio show, Mason and Guest on Tuesday.
When asked to elaborate on that point, Hope, who is looking to become the next Vice-President of the regional body, explained:“Well that statement means exactly as it is because it appears as the players don’t fully know or even the public don’t fully know what those fitness standards are because you have different interpretations of it
“I’ve heard you comment about it. You are uncertain about it. I’ve heard journalists, sports journalists uncertain about it and I’ve heard players complain about it and what has played out is that it seems as if it appears inconsistent so that’s why we say review.”
Hope argued that there must be a manual which guides the direction in which the fitness regimen must align to and in the process create uniformity in the way it is administered and treated.
“I think if people are going to be subjected to something it’s good to hear from them you know, it’s good to get some information from them and to have a manual that is written down and held up that everybody can see and what the process will be,” Hope reasoned.
