A new $200 million, modern police station, which will also serve as the headquarters for Region two (Pomeroon/ Supenaam) has been completed at Anna Regina.
Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn is expected to formally hand over the building to the police soon.
The police in a press statement said that the building was constructed in keeping with the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) plans to decentralize.
According to the police, the building was designed to be “more” public friendly. It will facilitate a case management room, witness protection room, domestic violence office, an automated case management system and an integrated crime information system.
The release added that modern detention facilities are also being catered for as the GPF strives towards better accommodation, rehabilitation and social reintegration services for the public.
A team of ranks including Director of the force Corporate Communications Unit, Mark Ramotar and Deputy Director Stan Gouveia visited the new building last Friday, during a visit to Regional Commander Superintendent Crystal Robinson.
