Archery Guyana has secured the requisite approval from the National COVID-19 Task Force to commence shooting sessions a release from the body stated.
As a result, Archery Guyana’s indoor championship style competition is the new initiative launched by Archery Guyana that will be held each quarter of 2021 with the first competition starting this month.
Archers will be able to showcase their skills in this specially designed virtual competition that will be 18m recurve style for males and females of all ages held indoors or outdoors. Each archer is expected to shoot 60 arrows at 18m for the ranking round.
The competition will feature an honour-based scoring system and will be subject to observation by the Directors of Shooting or their nominees. The scores will be recorded on a digital template provided by Archery Guyana and must include the total number of 10s and 9s shot by each archer.
A Whatsapp Group will be created for recording scores and sharing photos among members, the release stated.
The competition is designed to give archers the opportunity to compete and enjoy the sport at selected venues that are vetted and approved by specially formed Competitions Committee of Archery Guyana.
Additionally, the Competitions Committee will ensure that each venue conforms to the National COVID-19 regulations as well as the necessary safety protocols for archery competitions.
Archers will be able to select the dates and times for their shooting based on the availability of Judges. Ranking rounds was scheduled to commence yesterday.
According to the release, the Board of Directors, wishes to thank the Task Force and the Competitions Committee for green lighting and organising the event.
