A post-mortem examination conducted on the remains of 15-month-old Sahara La Cruz, who died last Tuesday at her Cabora Village, Moruca residence, has determined the cause of her death to be a brain infection.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported the finding yesterday after a post-mortem was conducted by Dr. Nehaul Singh on Mon-day at the Kumaka Dis-trict Hospital Mortuary.
The GPF had reported that the mother was awakened by the cries of her baby, after which she attempted to breastfeed her but she refused.
The report added that the mother later observed that the child was experiencing convulsions, which later stopped. After the convulsions, the baby remained motionless.
The matter was reported to the Acquero Police Station.
