Young cricketers from New Jersey and its environs in the United States are about to benefit from vital exposure once again in Guyana.
The Tri State Under-15 squad, comprising players from New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, is following up on a visit by the Under-19s, with a two-week plus tour from Thursday.
Under the title Tri State NY Youth Cricket Development Inc., tour banner, the team of visiting youngsters, will clash with Georgetown representative age teams in nine 50 overs games and a special two-day Tests. Coached by former Guyana fast bowler Linden Fraser, the Tri State team’s tour was made possible through the goodwill of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA). The visiting team will take on the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Everest, GYO, Essequibo, GCA Select and Transport Under-15 teams among others. The two-day game will be against the Georgetown side and at stake will be the Basil Butcher Jr., trophy. In 2019, the Tri State Under-19 team toured Guyana and won a special competition in that age category.
All of the matches have been approved by the COVID Task Force body.
