The police are investigating the alleged armed robbery of a Guy-Bisco employee, who was robbed of $1.4 million in cash while conducting business for the company.
According to a Guyana Police Force release, the employee of the Guy-Bisco Importation Limited was in a company vehicle on Mandela Avenue on Thursday when the alleged robbery occurred.
The police stated that the employee reported that he had completed selling items on behalf of his employer at various shops and secured the monies in a canister in the company of two other employees.
They proceeded on their way in their truck but during a traffic stop, the employee said, two persons on a red and black motorcycle approached the vehicle. The pillion rider of the motorcycle reportedly jumped off the cycle and hit the man two times to his head with a gun and pointed it at him, while ordering him to hand over the keys. Subsequently the pillion rider took the canister which contained the $1.4 million in cash along with the victim’s cellphone and later escaped with his accomplice.
