Persistent rainfall over the capital city of Georgetown forced the first match of the New York Tri-State Under-15 tour to be washed out.
The opening match was set for the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda with the North American side set to play Gandhi Youth Organisation in a 50-over contest.
If the weather permits, the United States unit will battle Essequibo at the Muslim Youth Organisation ground today before facing the Georgetown Cricket Association President’s (GCA) XI at Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Queenstown in a day/night encounter tomorrow.
The matches are part of the tour which features nine 50-over matches along with two, two-day contests over the course of a 17-day tour.
Meanwhile, the GCA/Noble House Seafoods, two-day, second-division tournament continues today with Police hosting the University of Guyana Trojans and Everest Cricket Club entertaining 3rd Class. Both matches are set for 11am start.
Today will also see the New Building Society’s second-division, 40-over tournament continuing with Malteenoes Sports Club taking on the Guyana Defence Force at the Queen’s College from 11am.
According to the organisers, clubs will have to ensure that they bring a scorer in order to have two scorers as prescribed by the laws of cricket.
The scorers will also be tasked with ensuring names are written in full and submitted in the report form since the GCA will be uploading it to their website.
All COVID-19 measures remain in place with no spectators allowed in the venues.
