From Tuesday, March 30, 2021, persons with disabilities will be allowed to submit and uplift applications for import and/or export licences in a more convenient manner as an extended service offered by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.
In a press release issued on Friday, the ministry said the service is in keeping with the ministry’s objective of improving the ease of doing business as well as promoting inclusivity for vulnerable groups.
“This initiative will allow persons with disabilitiesto submit their applications without exiting their vehicles. Staff of the Licensing Section will vet and accept applications as well as issue applications once approved at a special identified area just outside the Ministry,” it explained. It noted that applications for import/export licences belonging to persons with disabilities will be processed immediately and can be available within one to three hours as opposed to the standard 24 to 48 hours. It added that the primary requirement for persons desirous of accessing this service will be to complete a one-time registration, which will be valid for one year.
The ministry advised that the Director of Commerce Nicola Namdeo can be contacted on 225-2280 or via email nnamdeo@mintic.gov.gy for more information on the service.
