Power interruption on Essequibo Coast

At approximately 7.30 am yesterday, one of the Caterpillar Units at the Guyana Power and Light’s (GPL) Anna Regina Power Plant developed electrical issues resulting in the tripping of the unit.

A release from GPL said that this created a ripple effect which affected the entire system. As a result, all consumers on the coast were affected.

GPL’s technical teams immediately responded and worked throughout the day to rectify the issue. Power was restored to the entire Essequibo Coast at approximately 5.15 pm.
