Ex-cop arrested over obtaining by false pretence

According to a release from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Paul Watson, a former policeman of Zeelugt, EBE, was arrested yesterday for obtaining money under false pretence.

It is alleged that Watson, who is attached to a private security service falsely pretended that he was in a position to assist an individual in obtaining a firearm licence.

This is not the first time the former rank has been charged for such an offence. Stabroek News reported in 2017 that Watson allegedly obtained $790,000 from a businessman by claiming he could get him a gun licence.
