The United States has welcomed the news that COVAX has completed its first delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to Guyana.
A statement from the US Embassy yesterday said that global crises require global responses, and the United States is proud to have contributed US$4 billion to COVAX, the largest commitment globally from a single country. This contribution builds on decades of U.S. investments in global health and demonstrates the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to build back better by strengthening multilateral cooperation, the statement added.
“We encourage other countries to make and fulfill concrete commitments to COVAX and to support vaccine manufacturing, supply, and distribution to help end this this pandemic”, the statement said.
