Fifty-seven new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded while an additional 100 persons have recovered from the virus.
This was displayed on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the new cases increased Guyana’s total number of positive confirmed cases to 10,249. These came after 944 more persons were tested for the virus, increasing the total number of persons tested to date to 89,958.
According to the regional distribution of the confirmed cases, the new cases came from six of the ten administrative regions. One new case was recorded in Region Two, 9 cases each in regions Three and Six, 18 in Region Four, 15 in Region Seven, and 5 in Region Ten.
The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 231. Thirty-six deaths were recorded for the month of March making it the second deadliest month since the index case was recorded over one year ago.
There are now 908 active cases, 59 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 849 are in home isolation. Twelve persons remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and 100 more persons have recovered from the virus, increasing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 9,098.
