Female cop injured in NA accident

 

                                                                                                                                   The Guyana Police Force says it is investigating a serious accident which occurred yesterday at about 7 am on Main Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice in which a female cop was injured.

                                                                                                                                                                                              The police say that the accident involved motor car (#PPP 9004) that was being driven at the time by 21-year-old Silvian Remington of the Mayor and Town Council Housing Scheme in New Amsterdam, Berbice and pedal cyclist Maricella Bruce, a 48 year-old female Special Constable stationed at the Central Police Station and attached to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Bruce resides at Tucber Park in New Amsterdam, Berbice.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Enquiries so far have disclosed that the motor car was proceeding east across Main Street, New Amsterdam when it collided with the pedal cyclist who was proceeding south along the eastern side of the said road. As a result of the collision, the  cyclist fell onto the road surface and suffered injuries to her face, above her right eye.

                                                                                                                                                                                     She was picked up by the said driver in a conscious condition and taken to New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and later admitted as a patient in the said hospital. Her condition is regarded as stable.

                                                                                                                                                                                     The driver  of the motor car is currently in custody and the vehicle lodged at the police station.

Investigations are  in progress.
