Dear Editor,
I was saddened (and annoyed) to learn of yet another untimely death, by accident, involving a siren blaring official vehicle. That of Samuel Colin Ming. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his brother Stanley, and to his entire family.
This brings me to the topic of the abuse of Traffic Laws by official vehicles using sirens. This is a topic which needs to be addressed by the relevant authorities urgently. Too many innocent lives are being lost. The first thought is that we blame the drivers. But they are not a law unto themselves. They have superiors. Why can’t the issue be addressed? Laws are expected to be adhered to by all – no exceptions.
Regards,
Joan Fields
