The 2021 Police Commissioner’s T20 Inter-Division Cup bowled off yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club ground with ‘B’ and ‘A’ Divisions chalking up wins.
In the first encounter, defending champions, ‘F’ Division suffered a first-round knockout after losing by 52 runs to ‘B’ Division.
Overnight rainfall forced the contest to be reduced to a 10-over affair with ‘F’ Division winning the toss and opting to chase. That decision proved to be a misstep as ‘B’ Division posted 132 for one from their allotment while ‘F’ Division only managed 80 for eight by the time their overs ended.
For ‘B’ Division, First-Class opener, Kevon Boodie continued his purple patch with an unbeaten 86, laced with 10 sixes and two fours. The 27-year-old added 74 for the opening partnership with Kedar Amsterdam, who made 12 while going on to share an unbroken 58-run partnership with Philburg Willburg who smashed three sixes and a four in his 27 not out.
In reply, Troy Drakes (3-17) immediately put ‘F’ Division on the back foot by removing both openers. Kedar Amsterdam then worked his way through the middle order, picking up 2-11 as the former champions slipped to 21-5.
M. Peters and S. Greenidge tried to revive the chase, hitting two sixes each on their way to 22 and 18 respectively but the asking rate soared out of control.
Meanwhile, in the second match, ‘A’ Division held their nerve to beat ‘D’ Division by six wickets.
‘D’ Division won the toss and elected to bat first in the 10-over contest where they reached 88 for five but that wasn’t enough as ‘A’ Division crossed the line with five balls to spare.
Today, ‘C’ Division battles Region Five in the morning match while President Guards will take on ‘G’ Division in the afternoon game.
