A plantain chip vendor was yesterday charged and granted bail after police said she had 51 grammes of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Nicola Clarke, 47, a plantain chip vendor of Lot 57 Houston Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court when she denied a trafficking of narcotics charge.
The charge states that on April 3, at 57 Houston Housing Scheme, EBD, she had in her possession 51 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the police prosecutor, the alleged narcotics were found under Clarke’s bed and she was the only occupant in the house when the police conducted a search at the home.
Clarke was placed on $15,000 bail and the matter was adjourned until May 12.
