The body of man who was reported missing on Wednesday was found floating by his daughter at Dredge Creek, along the Pomeroon River.
Dead is 66-year-old Cecil George of Somerset and Berks, Essequibo Coast, Region Two. According to a police report, the man’s body was found floating facing upward at Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River.
According to Police Commander for Regional Division #2, Superintendent Crystal Robinson, Rachel George, 40, had reported her father as missing to the Charity Police Station on April 7. She had reportedly last seen him alive on the day before at home and he was heading to an unknown destination via his boat. It was further reported that the man was also imbibing at the time.
Yesterday, Rachel found him floating in the water. He was clad in a blue jersey and dark-blue short pants. She alerted relatives who took the body to the Charity wharf where it was also seen and examined by a police rank.
Photos of the body were taken and it was then escorted to the Charity Hospital where a doctor on duty officially pronounced him dead.
The body was then taken to the Suddie Hospital mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
