Eva Pearson, the woman who is accused of stabbing her former partner during an argument last Thurs-day, was yesterday remanded to prison on a murder charge.
Pearson, 27, of Lot 534 ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appear-ed before Magistrate Alisha George at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court, where the charge was read.
She was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until May 18, 2021, for statements.
Darren Harris, 47, a cook of Lot 1317 Cummings Park, Sophia, was stabbed to death at School Street, Cummings Park “E” Field Sophia, East Coast Demerara.
The police had reported that Harris and Pearson once shared a relationship that ended recently due to domestic issues.
A female witness who overheard the argument sometime around 9.30 pm told police that she saw Harris fall to the roadway about 40 feet away and at the same time observed Pearson walking away from the area.
The witness raised an alarm and the ambulance service with Emer-gency Medical Technicians that responded subsequently pronounced Harris dead.
Pearson, police have said, claimed that she and Harris were in involved in a scuffle during which he chopped her fingers. She further claimed that she relieved him of a knife and inflicted the injuries on him and then threw away the weapon.
A post-mortem examination conducted on the deceased on Wednes-day revealed that his body bore three stab wounds.
Meanwhile, Onika Henry, a sister of the deceased, stated that her brother was a jovial and fun person to be around. She is seeking justice for the deceased.
The father of two will be laid to rest next Friday.
