A suspect, who police say confessed to the killing of Roy Ross, the man who was found dead in his home at Swan Village, Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Monday, has been charged with the crime.
Ewert Calistro, 23, made his appearance yesterday before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him.
He was subsequently remanded to prison and is expected to make his next court appearance on May 11, 2021.
Twenty-four year-old Ross is believed to have been killed sometime between 11pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday.
A family member, who asked not to be named, previously stated that a neighbour of the deceased observed that a door of Ross’s house was open when he arrived on Sunday night. According to the family member, the neighbour stated that the door was still open on Monday morning, which led to him investigating and he discovered Ross lying motionless on the floor in his home. He then raised an alarm.
The family member added that another occupant of the same neighbour’s home stated that she heard sounds coming from Ross’ home on Sunday night but disregarded it as a fight between Ross and his wife.
The woman said she later saw two persons fully clothed in black exiting the deceased’s yard and heading towards the bushes across from his house.
Nothing was reported missing from the home.
