The Guyana Cricket Board executives recently held their second meeting where several sub-committees were established.
This is according to a release from the Bissoondyal Singh-led administration which detailed that the meeting centered on “a wide range of matters relating to the development of the game in Guyana and the way forward.”
The release listed vice-president and Cricket West Indies Director, Hilbert Foster, as the head of the Cricket Development Committee while Public Relations Officer, Claude Raphael leads the Public Relations Committee. Acting Treasurer, Dr. Cecil Beharry will lead the finance Committee.
The body said that the names of the persons selected in addition to the chairman of the committees will be released shortly.
“The GCB would release more information to the general public as we go forward and wishes to reassure the general public that we are committed to a policy of transparency, fairness and accountability,” the release stated.
“Guyana Cricket needs a lot of work and the entire executive body committed to leading by example and to create an atmosphere for all stakeholders to strive in,” the GCB added in the release.
Additionally, it was finalized that former West Indies Captain, Ramnaresh Sarwan and former West Indies Under-19 skipper, Andre Percival will lead the senior and junior selection panel respectively.
“The GCB has made available several positions on the different committees for the Essequibo Cricket Board and they would be contacted to fill them,” the release stated.
Recently, the executives also visited the board office to introduce themselves to the staff after the meeting. The transition from the previous executives to the newly elected ones is still an ongoing process.
