Avinash Fernandes, the miner whose body was found floating in the Arakaka River, North West District (NWD), Region One during last week died as a result of asphyxiation due to compression to the neck, consistent with manual strangulation, an autopsy stated.
Deputy Director of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit, Stan Gouveia confirmed the findings of the autopsy.
The autopsy was performed on Tuesday by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
