A vessel ‘Miss Meena’ departed Guyana yesterday with relief items for volcano-stricken St.Vincent and the Grenadines. Among items on the first shipment are water, rice, sugar, beans, cleaning materials, personal protective gear and masks.
In the coming days, a second shipment is scheduled to transport more supplies to the people of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
The La Soufrière volcano erupted last Friday leaving thousands displaced.
Since then, there has been a series of explosions and continuous ash fall which is expected to last over the next few days or weeks. (Photo taken from Olive Gopaul Facebook page)
