The Management of the Guyana/Suriname Ferry Service today announced that the Government of Suriname has instituted a full lockdown for the coming weekend from 6 pm Friday 16th April to 5am Monday 19th April.
Therefore, there will be no service on Sunday 18th April, 2021.
The next service will be on Wednesday 21st April, 2021.
On April 10, Suriname announced new requirements for travel to the country amid growing concerns over COVID-19.
To be allowed to board the Ferry at Moleson Creek, Corentyne to South Drain, Suriname, it said that all passengers are required to show a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Test result taken within 72 hours of their scheduled time of departure to Suriname.
As of April 10, 2021, all persons travelling to Suriname will be required to quarantine for seven days at a government approved quarantine hotel or guesthouse.
At this time, travellers are not excluded from quarantine, even if s/he has:
– tested negative for COVID-19
– recovered from COVID-19
– been vaccinated for COVID-19.
