Venezuelan currency and contraband have been seized by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) as part of its operations to locate marijuana camps along the Mahaicony River area.
A release by CANU said that ranks, acting on information, proceeded up the Mahaicony River and discovered a marijuana camp on Thursday. A search was conducted and 822 grammes of suspected cannabis was found along with two shotguns, ammunition and Venezuelan currency.
No arrests were made as the camp was empty at the time of the operation but several tracks were seen running from the camp into a nearby savannah. These tracks were also searched but no one was found.
The contraband and related items were seized and taken to CANU Headquarters for processing, the release added.
