Dear Editor,
Please explain why, with reference to the death of Walter Rodney that occurred in 1980, the Head of Government of the Republic at that time is referred to as “the Prime Minister”. This reference is noted in several of your publication’s reports on the quashing of Donald Rodney’s conviction, and again in yesterday’s editorial.
Surely, at that time Mr Burnham was the Executive President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
Regards
Nick Harewood
Editor’s note: Dr Walter Rodney was killed on June 13, 1980. Prime Minister Burnham became the Executive President on October 6th, 1980.
