Yesterday, the Guyana Prison Service hosted a Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWTs) at the Mazaruni Prisons.
A release from the police said that this activity attracted presentations from members of the Joint Services on their area of response in relation to a prison break, shooting incident and fire – all occurring around the same time.
In attendance were presidential Advisor on National Security, Gerry Gouveia, Brigadier Godfrey Bess, Guyana Defence Force, Commissioner of Police(ag), Nigel Hoppie, Director of Prison (ag), Nicklon Elliot and Guyana Fire Service representative Commandant Heimchendra Persaud.
At the end of the presentations brief remarks were given by Gouveia and Brigadier Bess.
During the exercise, a physical inspection of the Mazaruni Prisons was conducted by the heads of the Joint Services.
