Gunmen on Saturday night opened fire at a bar in Lime Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown before executing a robbery at the premises.
Police in a statement last night said four males, two armed with handguns, arrived at the ‘Cornbread Hangout’ on motorcycles.
The gunmen, who were pillion riders, rushed into the bar and proceeded to search the premises for valuables.
Police said as the men opened fire announcing their arrival, businesswoman Teshana Blake was at the time tending to a customer. She then ran to the back of the property leaving the cashier section unattended and her cellular phones behind.
The men carted off $40,000 cash, one blue S9 Samsung cellular phone valued at $120,000 and one white S10 Plus Samsung cellular valued at $140,000 all belonging to Blake.
During the ordeal, the bandits also robbed 66-year-old Hannibal Thom, an overseas-based Guyanese technician of a gold pendant valued at $20,000.
Police said the bandits snatched the chain and pendant as they were escaping from the scene. The men jumped back onto to the motorcycles and made good their escape.
Ranks probing the shooting and robbery discovered three spent shells. No arrest has been made.
