A significant increase in COVID-19 cases have been recorded in regions Four and Three as monitoring is ongoing according to Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony.
The Minister made this disclosure during his daily COVID-19 update where he noted that even as cases in the country stand over 11,000, the majority of recent cases are being recorded in regions Three and Four. “Well we have seen an increase in cases in Region Four and Region Three. We have also in Region Seven we have a number of cases as well so we continue to monitor these areas.”
He noted that in Region Four, the authorities are seeing an upsurge in cases in the Diamond and Eccles area along the East Bank of Demerara and have also reported increased cases in the Lusignan and Success areas on the East Coast of Demerara.
“So there are pockets where we are seeing more cases but generally when we look across say the East Coast, Georgetown, or the East Bank, almost every village there are one or two cases,” he added. Anthony also noted that in Region Three, an increase has been observed in the Tuschen area. The minister stated that monitoring is ongoing in the areas mentioned where a number of persons are in home and intuitional isolation. “We have to keep monitoring, we have a number of persons in home isolation and we have a number of persons in institutional isolation and that exercise continues.”
