Dr Leslie Ramsammy, advisor to the Minister of Health today said that over 100,000 persons have now been vaccinated against COVID-19.
In a statement today, he said:
"Guyana made a bold move to vaccinate everyone aged 18 years and older. Our intention was that we will vaccinate 100,000 persons with their first dose by April 30. We did it 10 days earlier. We are grateful to the persons who came forward. We are grateful to the health workers who against all odds accomplished a feat people thought was impossible. Guyana will vaccinate more than 300,000 people with both doses by end of July and we are hoping to secure enough doses for another 200,000 persons soon. Thus by end of August we expect to vaccinate over 500,000 persons. We will do it".
