A deliveryman is nursing a gunshot wound at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was ambushed by two bandits while visiting his family.
The Guyana Police Force yesterday said that it is investigating the incident involving 33-year-old Navin Mahadal of John Smith Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.
According to investigators, the man was visiting his family at the same address when he was approached by two men who demanded that he hand over his black and red XR Motorcycle which he was dismounting from at the time.
The police said that after Mahadal refused to give his motorcycle to the men and had dismounted from the bike, one of them pulled a handgun from his waist and discharged a round which hit Mahadal in the left side of his jaw. The two men then escaped with the motorcycle. Mahadal was rushed to the hospital and admitted.
His condition is currently listed as critical.
Investigators are canvassing the area for possible CCTV footage as the probe continues.
