Seven juveniles escaped from the Sophia Holding Centre in the wee hours of Thursday morning and all but two are now back in custody.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement issued yesterday, stated that the escape occurred between 2.30 am and 2.40 am.
The report said seven juveniles initially escaped but following an alarm raised and quick response from the police three of the juveniles were recaptured. A fourth one was taken back to the facility in the company of his mother and a fifth was apprehended with the help of their relatives.
The police continue to search for the remaining two.
