Andrew Jagmohan, the truck driver who was killed in a freak accident after being pinned to his steering wheel by one of the logs he had been transporting , died of multiple injuries, an autopsy has concluded.
The Guyana Police Force said that the post-mortem examination performed by Dr Nehaul Singh on Friday at the Memorial Garden Crematorium and the cause of death was given as multiple injuries.
It was further reported by the police that the body was identified by Jagmohan’s cousin and brother-in-law. The body was handed over to relatives for funeral arrangements.
Jagmohan, 34, of Crabwood Creek, Berbice, was involved in an accident while travelling uphill at Wiki Creek Landing Backdam, Berbice, the police said on Thursday.
The police said that Jagmohan was driving GFF 7662 uphill at the landing when he encountered some mechanical problems. As a result, the lorry began to roll backward downhill and one of the logs being transported hit a tree. The impact forced the log into the cabin of the vehicle and pinned the driver to the steering wheel.
Jagmohan was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A release said that Ivor Martin, 33, a porter of Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was also travelling with Jagmohan at the time and he assisted with transporting the man to the Kwakwani hospital after Jagmohan was pinned.
