A 14-year-old boy was injured on Sunday in a hit-and-run accident along La Parfaite Harmonie Public Road, West Bank Demerara.
Police identified the driver as Joshua Manbodh, of St. Stephen’s Street, Charlestown, saying that he fled the scene after the accident.
The police, in a statement issued yesterday, explained that the accident occurred around 6.50 pm while Manbodh was proceeding south along Parfaite Harmonie Public Road.
Once hit by the driver, the teen fell onto the road and sustained injuries about his body.
The report explained that after the accident Manbodh drove away and parked the vehicle in the back of a yard in La Parfaite Harmonie, before fleeing the area.
The teen was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited persons and the police, who transported him to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was admitted for a fractured left arm, head injuries, a laceration to the right side shoulder and bruises about his body.
He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he remains a patient in the Accident and Emergency Unit.
The vehicle was lodged and will be examined by a licence and certifying officer.
