Dr Ashni Singh, a senior minister in the Office of the President (OP) with responsibility for Finance, on Friday congratulated the Dharm Shala, ‘Home of Benevolence for all Races’ which celebrated its centenary on Wednesday.
At a brief ceremony held at the Home in Albouystown, Georgetown, the minister congratulated the granddaughters of the home’s founder, Kella and Pamela Ramsaroop, for the work accomplished and the years dedicated to serving its residents.
Singh encouraged the duo and other members of the managing team of the home to continue to provide the invaluable service to the senior citizens, a very important section of society who would have served Guyana in so many different capacities.
And on behalf of the President of Guyana Irfaan Ali, he saluted the founders of the organisation who served the institution so selflessly.
Their effort and kindness, Singh opined, is known to all including being able to successfully maintain such a project for three generations and 100 years.
Singh advised those persons present at the ceremony to take all the necessary precautions in order to protect themselves from the coronavirus. He also urged them to get vaccinated.
Also present at the ceremony were Mayor of Georgetown, Ubraj Narine, and Eddie Boyer, Chief Executive Officer of National Hardware (Guyana) Ltd.
