Belle West man bled to death after drunken confrontation -autopsy

A post-mortem examination conducted on Oangkar Kishandyal, who was chopped while attacking another man with a hammer on Sunday, has found his cause of death to be haemorrhage and shock due to an incised wound to one of his forearms.

The examination was conducted on Monday morning by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.

According to the police, Kishandyal, of Belle West, Canal Number 2, West Bank Demerara, while being armed with a hammer and highly intoxicated, visited the home of another man and verbally abused the man’s father.

The police reported that the father was contracted to execute some works at Kishandyal’s home.

During his verbal abuse, Kishandyal, police said, barged into the yard and launched an attack on the contractor’s son, hitting him about his body with the hammer.

Attempting to save himself from the blows, the son armed himself with a chair.  However, Kishandyal held on to the chair and the two began to wrestle.

“The suspect released the chair and armed himself with a cutlass which was nearby while the victim retrieved the hammer and rushed back into the suspect,” the police said.

The report stated that according to the son he raised the cutlass to bar the hammer and Kishandyal was cut to his right hand.

Kishandyal then began to retreat from the premises and later collapsed some 600 feet away.  He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was examined and later died.
