Two new COVID-19 fatalities were yesterday recorded as Guyana surpassed 13,000 cases.
This was disclosed by the Ministry of Health which noted that the newest fatalities were both recorded in Region Three and were identified as a 63-year-old woman and 59-year-old woman.
The Ministry of Health’s dashboard showed that the 143 new cases increased Guyana’s total to 13,106. These came after 1,240 persons were tested, increasing the total number of persons tested to date to 121,268.
The new cases were reported in nine regions with three cases each in regions One and Seven, one case each in regions Two and Ten, 22 in Region Three, 80 (the majority) in Region Four, five in Region Five, seven in Region Six, and 21 in Region Nine.
There are now 1,685 active cases with 88 in institutional isolation and another 1,597 in home isolation. Three more persons are now patients at the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit moving that number to 16.
However 40 more persons have recovered thus lifting Guyana’s total recovered cases to 11,110.
