Kevin La Fleur, who escaped from the Mazaruni Prison on April 10 was on Saturday evening recaptured in Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne.
The Guyana Police Force in a statement yesterday said that acting on information, a party of policemen went to a home in Ankerville where they arrested and identified La Fleur.
According to the police, the suspect initially gave his name as Mark Thomas but was positively identified to be La Fleur. He was alone at the time.
He was arrested and then transported to the Central Police Station, New Amsterdam.
La Fleur, 25, of Lot 84 Providence Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, who was serving a sentence of 56 months for armed robbery had escaped by running into the bush at the back of the prison. Prison officers had searched the area but could not locate him, the police had said.
