With the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to increase in Guyana, Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited and the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) have reduced their operating period by one hour.
“Your health is important. In our ongoing efforts to keep you and our staff safe during the COVID-19 pandemic we’re instituting changes in our operations. Effective Tuesday May 4, 2021 and, until further notice, our branches will open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 1pm,” a notice by Republic Bank stated.
GBTI also announced that effective today they will be opened from 8 am to 1pm until further notice. Its Diamond and Parika branches will be closed on Wednesdays but will be opened on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 12pm. It was stated that their online and alternate channels remain accessible 24/7.
Following the detection of the first COVID-19 case in Guyana in March of last year, the two banks had adjusted their operating hours and encouraged persons to make use of their online services. However, in October, Republic Bank announced that it had resumed its normal operating hours and that its branches would be opened from 8am to 2pm.
GBTI followed suit a few weeks later. The two banks had been operating at normal banking hours since then.
