A farmer and a housewife were yesterday placed on $700,000 bail after being charged with trafficking marijuana.
Shelroy Clarke, 34, a farmer of Lot 13A Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara, and 39-year-old Patricia Grant, a housewife of the same address were brought before Magistrate Alisha George at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where they were charged.
It is alleged that on May 2, at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara, they had in their possession 867.8 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The two who pleaded not guilty to the charge were represented by attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva.
They were placed on $350,000 bail each and the matter was adjourned until June 3.
