Hours after reporting three more COVID-related deaths, the Ministry of Health this afternoon confirmed six more that had previously not been confirmed.
In a statement, the ministry explained that it received polymerase chain reaction (PCR) confirmation of the deaths, which include those of two 79-year-olds.
The patients, it said, were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at its medical institutions. Samples were taken at the time of admission and subsequently returned positive tests.
As a result, a total of nine deaths have been confirmed today, taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 323.
