The Miss/Mrs/Teen/Mr India Worldwide Guyana franchise on Sunday hosted a sashing and medal ceremony at a private location where 14 women were sashed, and nine men honoured with medals as they prepare to compete in four categories of the pageant.
Of the 14 women, eight are competing in the Miss India Guyana category, three in the Mrs category and three in the Teen category.
One of the men is currently overseas and was therefore unable to attend the medal ceremony. This is the first time the franchise has included a Mr category. Initially it was to be introduced in last year’s pageant but that was cancelled owing to COVID-19.
“I feel the need to accept that this is the new norm, but we need to progress after taking the year off…,” director of the pageant Hashim Alli said.
He shared his excitement at being able to host Sunday’s event and is anticipating the pageant to be held in August following all COVID-19
protocols.
The organization has recruited Suveer Ramsook as the official choreographer for the Mr India Guyana 2021. He is a professional model who has experience in pageantry having competed before.
The international leg of the competition is tentatively slated for October 3.
