Six persons at a party hosted by a Guyana Defence Force (GDF) corporal were arrested yesterday morning for breaching COVID-19 protocols.
Among those arrested were the corporal along with three ranks of the (GDF) and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and two civilians.
According to a police report, ranks involved in a COVID-19 enforcement exercise swooped down at Lot 43 Middle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara between 1.30 am and 2.00 am where the private party was being held by the member of the GDF.
Those apprehended were said to have been behaving disorderly and resisted arrest initially. Several others in attendance managed to escape the police.
One of the civilians who was placed in a state-owned pickup bearing registration number PWW 5458, kicked the back windscreen of the vehicle shattering it in the process. The two civilians were placed in police custody at the La Parfaite Harmonie Police Station while the ranks of the GDF and GPF were place under close arrest.
