(Trinidad Guardian) All parks and squares in Port-of-Spain have been closed until May 23.
In a release yesterday, the Port-of-Spain City Corporation said the Municipal Police will be on patrol to ensure that all protocols are strictly observed.
The release added that the management of the Central Market is also pleading with the public to ensure a safe environment by fully co-operating with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.
“All protocols must be observed. Upon entering the market, patrons must utilise the hand washing station and socially distance. It is also recommended, that all shopping must be done in a safe and timely manner,” the release said.
It said citizens are also urged to work with the Police Service and the City Police to further stop the spread of this deadly virus.
“Members of the public are reminded to wear their masks, wash and sanitise hands, social distance at least six feet apart and to stay at home,” the release added.
The Brian Lara Promenade was cordoned off on Saturday as a result of people flouting the COVID-19 regulations.
Port-of-Spain Mayor Joel Martinez had said the decision was taken to discourage people from loitering and congregating.
He added the corporation was also increasing police patrols and presence in the Central Market to ensure smooth operations and that also vendors and shoppers alike were COVID-19 protocol compliant.
