Two new COVID-19 fatalities along with 80 more cases of the virus were recorded yesterday.
This was revealed by the Ministry of Health which stated in a press release that as of May 9, 2021, two more persons who tested positive for the virus have died. They were identified as a 77-year-old man and a 59-year-old man both from Region Four. They died while receiving care at a medical facility.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard showed that the country’s total positive confirmed cases now stand at 14,442. The new cases came after some 236 persons were tested thus increasing the total number of persons tested to date to 130,624.
There are now 1,832 active cases in the country, 101 of whom are in institutional isolation while some 1,731 are in home isolation. Some 16 persons remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit even as 113 more persons have recovered. Guyana’s total recovered cases now stand at 12,267.
