Guyana yesterday recorded four new COVID-19 deaths along with 89 new cases.
These fatalities were identified by the Health Ministry as a 63-year old woman from Region Ten, a 66-year old man from Region One, a 78-year-old man from Region Three and a 69-year-old woman from Region Four. As a result the country’s death toll now stands at 331.
According to the Ministry of Health’s dashboard, Guyana’s total confirmed cases now stand at 14,531. The new cases which were recorded came after some 251 more persons were tested thus increasing the total number of persons tested to 130,875.
There are now 1,741 active cases, 101 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,640 are in home isolation. Of the new cases the majority were recorded in Regions Four and Ten with 47 and 24 new cases respectively.
Some 16 persons remain in the COVID-19 intensive care unit even as some 176 more persons have recovered thus increasing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 12,443.
