A twenty-six-year-old man has been arrested for damage to an elderly woman’s property after he went to the victim’s home and verbally abused her and his wife who was staying with the woman at the time of the incident.
The victim is said to be a sixty-three-year-old vendor of Westminster, La Parfaite Harmonie. Among the articles destroyed were one Toyota Fielder windscreen valued at $120,000, one Toyota Carina 212 windscreen valued $60,000, one light truck windscreen – $150,000, two rear view mirrors – $50,000, one washing machine – $46,000, and a quantity of louvre window panes valued $100,000. In all, the damage amounted to $526,000. A police report explained that after the suspect arrived at the vendor’s home at about 10pm on Tuesday night, he began verbally abusing her and his wife. The women became afraid and hid inside a bedroom.
The man then picked up some cement blocks that were in the yard which he used to smash the windscreens of the vehicles.
He then entered the house where he continued throwing bricks at the other items that were damaged in the process.
A report was made and the police visited the scene of the incident where the man was apprehended and taken to the La Parfaite Harmonie Police Station where he is in custody.
